We will have them hidden for you to find....come look around.

Have you ever heard of Geo-caching?  Well, it is quickly becoming more and more popular.  It is a "sport" of treasure hunting with your GPS devise.  The Saxon Lutheran Memorial has joined the forces and is a cache site.   We have hidden treasures for the adventurers to find.  Once they find the hidden treasures, they can stay for a while longer and hear about the real treasures that are tucked into all the history surrounding them.
Brian Blythe of Perryville was the first Geo-cache hunter to find one of the hidden treasures on site; there are three.  He is an avid hunter as is his wife and daughter, I know they will be back.  Nice to meet you, Brian, thanks for playing the game and getting into the hunt.

Geo cachers may find extra little goodies and coupons from the SLM as a thank you for "hunting on our grounds."

Here's Something New To Do

Have you ever quilted before?     Would you like to learn how?

Do you get bored throughout the summer?

Like to stay inside while it's hot outside?

Is quilting your favorite hobby?    Want a fun project to do with your friends?

You are invited to make a short trip to the Visitor's Center and see the quilt that is on display and ready to be quilted.  We have it set up to offer the opportunity to fill a niche or learn a new skill.  This is great for beginners and seasoned quilters alike.  It's a simple patchwork quilt with a wavy quilt pattern.

The quilt top was pieced by Dorene Grebing of Frohna, MO.  She is also a very active and dedicated council member of the Saxon Lutheran Memorial.  She made this quilt as a fund-raiser project for Concordia Lutheran School's Efficiency Fund.

It is made with over 200 different 4"squares.  The variety of squares represents all the different people who have come through Concordia Lutheran School.  And likewise with the quilting, it will be done by many hands which adds to the uniquenss and history of the quilt.  The person who buys this quilt will certainly be surrounded by many stories that are sewen in with each fabric square and told with each stitch quilted.

The quilt is on display and ready for quilting.  Why don't you be a part of this quilt's story?
